On Saturday 28th of September 2019, Greek Odysseuses organized an event on the protection of proper recycling at Trapantzio Gymnasium. The event was inspired by the Environment Committee during an earlier event in May 2019 at the Siatista Cultural Center. Children aged 10-15 as well as young people from our group participated in the environmental activity.
In the first phase, team building activities took place inside the Gymnasium in order to get to know each other, while children were asked questions about their knowledge of environmental protection.

After completing this track, we continued with games and activities in the school's backyard on recycling and the environment.
The first game was the "tic tac toe" with recyclable materials such as plastic and aluminum. In the second game, the children were divided into two groups, racing to place the material, which they picked up from a box with a lot of tangible recyclables, in the bin with the correct indication. The kids had to match three materials (plastic, paper and aluminum) and the winner was the team with the most materials.

Then we played a bowling game where the kids had to score with plastic bottles instead of bowling pins. The last game was an environmental hazard recognition game. The children had to run in the correct position every time they heard the words flood, fire and rubbish. The child that came last every time had to leave.
The event closed with the creation of handmade flower pots from recycled materials where each child decorated a pot made from a plastic water bottle.
The purpose of our event was to raise awareness among young and old about the concept of recycling in order to apply it in our daily lives and protect the environment.
