GO Alive

Beyond Borders in collaboration with Shokkin Group, Go Alive, KOM 018, Teatro Metaphora, and CODEC is launching a bold and playful mission: CIVIKO — a European project that transforms democratic participation into a game-changing experience for young people!

Partners developed this project idea by taking into account several important facts. Participation in the democratic life of any community is about more than voting or standing for election, although these are important elements. Young people are motivated and interested in political issues in our societies, however they find that traditional avenues for participation are not delivering on their promise.

What’s it all about?

The project aims to boost youth democratic participation through innovative educational tools — most notably a brand-new board game that makes learning about democracy exciting, interactive, and fun!

What will we do?

  • ✔️ Create tools that make democratic education more inclusive and accessible, with at least one comprehensive educational toolkit on democratic participation, including a board game and facilitator’s guide, to be used by youth organizations across partner countries.
  • ✔️ Train youth workers across Europe in using games for civic learning and conduct at least one international training course and six local workshops, equipping a minimum of 140 youth workers with skills and knowledge on democratic engagement and civic participation.
  • ✔️ Raise awareness about youth participation through playful, creative campaigns, by building capacities of youth workers coming from partner countries on youth participation and organising at least five CIVIKO tournaments in partner countries, engaging at least 500 young people in experiential learning about democratic participation.
  • ✔️ Promote active citizenship in local communities by executing an online and offline awareness campaign, including social media outreach and public debates

📆 CIVICO project will be implemented from 01.11.2025 to 31.10.2027 in Italy, Estonia, Greece, Serbia, Portugal and Belgium. It is co-financed by the EU.

🎯 Because democracy should never be boring — it should be a game everyone can play, and win!
