Every two years, the EYE (European Youth Event) brings together thousands of young people from across the European Union and beyond, right at the heart of European democracy. The EYE is a unique opportunity for 16- to 30-year-olds to inspire and get inspired, to debate directly with Members of the European Parliament and other European decision-makers, and to exchange views with experts, activists, and content creators.
European Youth Event 2023
In 2023, GO Alive offered the opportunity to a group of 20 young people to travel from Kozani to the European Parliament in Strasbourg and participate in the European Youth Event (EYE) 2023, held between 8–11 June. In collaboration with the European Parliament, GO Alive co-funded participants’ accommodation and travel costs, ensuring equal access to this unique European experience.
One of the most valuable aspects of EYE 2023 was the opportunity to connect with like-minded young people from across Europe. The networks we built will serve as a strong foundation for future collaborations, enabling us to work together on projects that promote positive change both within our local community and beyond.
Participation in EYE 2023 was a life-changing experience for our organisation and for the 20 young people who represented it. We returned to our city with renewed passion for future initiatives, equipped with fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a growing European network of changemakers. GO Alive is committed to harnessing the momentum gained through this experience and translating it into concrete actions that benefit our local community while contributing to the broader European vision.
European Youth Event 2021
In 2021, the informal youth group Greek Odysseuses had the opportunity to participate in the European Youth Event (EYE 2021) at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. This unique experience brought together thousands of young people from across Europe, creating a vibrant space for dialogue, participation, and the exchange of ideas on the future of the European Union
What stood out most was the collective energy of young Europeans—people from different countries, cultures, and languages coming together with a shared desire to participate in public life, exchange perspectives, and co-create solutions for a better tomorrow. The experience strengthened participants’ sense of European citizenship, empowerment, and responsibility, while also fostering friendships and networks that transcend borders.
