Chaves, Portugal | 26/03 – 01/04/2025
In late March 2025, GO Alive joined the inspiring Erasmus+ training course “Space for Youth!: Make Your Changemakers”, hosted in the peaceful town of Chaves, Portugal. This training aimed to empower young people and youth workers to take initiative and foster positive social change within their communities.
Through a series of interactive workshops and collaborative sessions, participants explored themes such as:
– Youth engagement and activism
– Community-based project design
– Intercultural dialogue and inclusion
The training was a unique space for exchanging ideas, building confidence, and growing both personally and professionally.
Artemis shared:
“During this training, I had the opportunity to connect with fellow European peers and reflect on our shared future. I discovered the work of other youth organisations across Europe and how they engage and mobilise their communities.
This training felt truly special to me-it inspired me to visualise and start planning my own ideas and projects within my community. It equipped me with valuable guidance, knowledge, and confidence.
I wholeheartedly recommend this type of training to every youth worker, and I encourage everyone to take part in an Inspira’s project and to visit the beautiful little town of Chaves!”
Georgios reflected:
“So the topic of this project was the youth engagement. I learnt some things for example, how to deal with young people, we created and suggested a project for the local community, and it was very nice all the process. In addition, we collaborated with local teenagers we helped them to finish the garden where is located to the school, in general I liked the interaction not only with the young people but also with the all participants to that project.
Moreover, the organizers were very helpful, friendly and hospitality I will never forget the amazing Portuguese cultural night. The city (Chaves) is peaceful, safe, clean, and beautiful, of course and last but not least, I liked most of the activities which we completed.”
This training course proved once again that when young people come together with purpose and heart, change is inevitable. The tools, ideas, and memories created in Chaves will ripple far beyond the training itself.
