From the 18th to the 25th of June 2024, young participants from all across Europe gathered in Orta Nova, Italy, for a unique Erasmus+ Youth Exchange titled “Log in – Back to Life.” The program was designed to foster awareness around mindfulness, intercultural dialogue, and conscious social media use, while offering immersive experiences in nature and local culture.

The Experience

During this impactful week, participants explored:

– Mindfulness and meditation practices as tools for self-awareness and dialogue. Intercultural understanding and cultural diversity through interactive workshops. The influence of social media habits and the importance of digital detox in a hyperconnected world.

Through yoga sessions, group reflections, creative activities, and even a visit to an animal sanctuary, the group had the chance to disconnect from screens and reconnect with themselves, others, and nature.

“From June 18th to 25th, 2024, Orta Nova, Italy, became the epicenter of mindfulness and the encouragement of not excessive use of cell phones as it hosted the initiative ‘Log in – Back to Life’. Throughout the event, participants had the chance to learn about the harmful effects of excessive cell phone use and ways to reduce it. Also, participants experienced mindfulness and spirituality within yoga sessions, meditations and conversations in that specific topic. Furthermore, participants visited places such as an animal sanctuary. The visit was aimed to educate about compassion and empathy.”

Learning Through Disconnection

This project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, proved once again the powerful impact of youth mobility in fostering meaningful international friendships, deeper reflections on daily habits, and a stronger commitment to mindful and inclusive living.

By encouraging young people to unplug and be present, Log in – Back to Life inspired a renewed appreciation for human connection, nature, and intentional use of technology values that continue to resonate far beyond the days spent in Orta Nova.
