GO Alive gave the opportunity to 6 young people to travel to Carucedo, Spain for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Galician Whispers: fostering diversity through tales and legends”, from 8–17 October 2023, and they shared their experience with us!
Throughout the exchange, participants dove into an immersive journey of discovery. Each day was filled with workshops, storytelling sessions, cultural presentations, and creative activities that invited young people to reflect on their identities and the tales that shaped their heritage.
From local Galician legends to ancient Greek myths, stories were shared not only as entertainment, but as bridges between cultures. The natural surroundings of Carucedo offered the perfect setting for these reflections quiet, inspiring, and rich in history.

“It was a different programme than I have done so far. The theme was awesome, we learned about legends and myths of the region and beyond. It really opened my eyes to how storytelling connects people.”

“For me it was a special experience that I definitely want to repeat. Getting to know other cultures and people, exchanging ideas and opinions, and participating in different activities that challenged me intellectually made this program so unique.”

“A very interesting program away from culture, for culture. Thirty young people from different countries and continents had the opportunity to meet and be hosted in a small village in Spain. We explored how different and how similar we are.”

This youth exchange proved that diversity doesn’t divide it enriches. Through sharing stories and listening to others, young people found common ground and built friendships that crossed borders. The program helped participants build empathy, public speaking skills, cultural understanding, and confidence all through the lens of mythology and storytelling.
