From 8 to 17 October 2023, GO Alive gave the opportunity to 6 young people to travel to Carucedo, Spain for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Galician Whispers: fostering diversity through tales and legends.”

A village of stories and discovery

Nestled in the Galician countryside, the peaceful village of Carucedo welcomed young people from across Europe for a truly unique experience. Surrounded by nature, mountains, and the shimmering lake, the setting inspired reflection and connection.

The exchange focused on cultural diversity through storytelling, legends, and local traditions. Every day was a new chapter filled with interactive workshops, outdoor activities, and unforgettable moments.

“The area we stayed in was beautiful, right in the Galician mountains with the lake beside us where many of us tried kayaking! The organizers were kind, respectful, and full of patience.” – Ele

Learning through stories and friendship

Participants had the opportunity to dive into each other’s cultural heritage, learning about traditional myths and tales while building strong bonds. Workshops encouraged creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.

“Getting to know other cultures and people, exchanging ideas and participating in intellectually stimulating activities made this program so special.” – Maria

Even for those joining Erasmus+ for the first time, the project exceeded expectations.

“It was a truly special experience that I would love to repeat. Meeting people from all over, exchanging ideas, and exploring different traditions challenged and inspired me.” – Maria

A space for personal growth

Beyond the learning outcomes, the exchange fostered personal development and meaningful friendships. Many participants reflected on how the experience shaped their mindset and skills.

“I learned a lot about myself and evolved through this project. The daily activities were very useful and enriching. I deeply appreciated the people and the friends I made.” – Mariana

“This was the best project I’ve joined so far, both thematically and in terms of the place. I gained experience that I will use in my work as a future teacher.” – Nikos

Once again, Erasmus+ proved to be a space where learning meets inspiration, and strangers become family.
