From May 23rd to 29th, 2025, a group of young participants from Greece joined others from across Europe in Bitola, North Macedonia, to take part in the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Celebrating Diversity and Building for the Future.” This enriching project brought together youth from four different countries to explore themes of inclusion, democracy, and sustainability through non-formal education.
Throughout the exchange, participants engaged in interactive activities, discussions, and team projects designed to promote intercultural understanding and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity. The programme also focused on the values of solidarity, democratic participation, and ecological awareness—encouraging young people to take action for a more inclusive and sustainable Europe.
The experience offered powerful opportunities to build friendships across cultures, challenge personal assumptions, and co-create a shared vision for the future. The vibrant atmosphere of Bitola served as the perfect backdrop for dialogue, creativity, and collaborative learning.
Pavlina: “As my first encounter with an Erasmus+ project i can configdently report that I was pleasantly surprise. It was an opportunity that helped me step out of my comfort zone, meet new people and engage in meaningful conversations, while enriching my knowledge through the workshops offered. All of this, in the beautiful setting of Pelister national park, which really added to the experience!”
Christos: “This project in Bitola was just amazing. I found several lifelong friends, and a deep emotional bond with burek. Between cultural workshops and spontaneous dance-offs, I discovered how beautifully chaotic and connected the world can be. Bitola taught me that growth often comes with laughter, awkward transltations and unforgettable people.”
Kostas: “Our time in another amazing erasmus+ project has unfortunately come to an end. I met some wonderful people, created memories that i will for sure remember and got to experience the real beauty of north macedonia.”
Tasos: “The youth exchange programme was a wonderful experience for me. I met lots of new and interesting people from idfferent countries. I also got to know and visit different places in my neighboring country of North Macedonia. In particular, I liked the hiking activity at Pelister national park and the visit to the Ohrid lake.”
We thank all the partners, facilitators, and young people who contributed to making this week in Bitola meaningful and impactful. Projects like this continue to show the importance of diversity, cooperation, and youth participation in building a better Europe.
