Kolin, Czechia | 22/02 – 02/03/2025
From 22nd February to 2nd March 2025, a group of youth workers and young changemakers gathered in Kolin, Czechia for a truly inspiring training course: Breakout Box – Social Entrepreneurship Edition. Organised in the framework of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, the project brought together creative minds from across Europe to explore the power of game-based learning and social entrepreneurship.
Over the course of ten days, participants took part in a dynamic programme filled with non-formal education activities, workshops, and challenges. They explored key concepts in social entrepreneurship, tackled local and global issues through creative thinking, and collaborated on the development of a unique escape box game—a playful yet powerful tool for education and awareness.
Workshops focused on:
– Understanding the link between business and social impact
– Designing game-based learning experiences
– Strengthening teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
Konstantinos shared:
“I found this training course to be a truly unique experience. Before attending, I had read the InfoPack and had certain expectations, but what I experienced there was completely different-in the best way possible. I learned a lot about entrepreneurship, especially social entrepreneurship, which was a concept I wasn’t very familiar with. I hadn’t realized how entrepreneurship could be connected to social issues and how companies could operate with a more non-profit-oriented approach.
The highlight of the course was undoubtedly the creation of an actual escape box game.
Not only did we develop it, but we also presented it to two groups of 4-5 people, who had the chance to try it out. This was something I hadn’t expected at all, and it turned out to be an incredible experience
I would 100% recommend this Erasmus project to anyone, especially young people, as it offers an amazing opportunity to connect with others from across Europe, learn new skills, and gain insight into different business models and social entrepreneurship.”
Eirini reflected:
“This hands-on approach deepened my understanding o interactive learning and its impact. Connecting with other youth workers allowed us to share best practices and even explore the cognitive science behind learning through play. The trainers’ expertise and engaging methods made this training incredibly valuable. I highly recommend such Erasmus+ projects to anyone passionate about innovative and experiential education!”
Ioulia added:
“One of the best parts of this experience was the people met. I connected with youth workers from different countries, and we shared our experiences, ideas, and cultures. Working together on creative projects and learning from each other made the training even more special.”
Participants didn’t just learn about theory, they applied their knowledge to develop real, hands-on outputs. The final result was a fully developed escape box game themed around social entrepreneurship. This tool can now be used in other youth work settings, creating long-term impact even beyond the training.
The stories, the connections and the energy, this is what Erasmus+ is all about. Empowering young people to explore, collaborate, and create change.
