From June 11th to 18th, 2025, young people from Greece and across Europe gathered for the BioDive youth exchange, a unique Erasmus+ project held in celebration of biodiversity, environmental sustainability, and inclusive action. Set in a natural setting, this experience connected participants from diverse backgrounds through hands-on learning, dialogue, and environmental engagement.
The aim of the exchange was to empower young people—especially those from rural or underrepresented communities—to reconnect with nature and take responsibility for their local ecosystems. Through clean-up actions, biodiversity exploration, and sustainability workshops, participants learned how small, everyday choices can create ripples of positive change.
The exchange wasn’t only about protecting the environment—it was also about strengthening bonds, creating inclusive spaces, and recognizing the role of youth as changemakers for a greener, fairer future. BioDive reminded us all that sustainability is not just a concept, but a practice of care, community, and solidarity.
Nora: “I recently attended a beautiful program in the Italian countryside, filled with creative and hands-on activities. It was fully interactive and completely offline, exactly what I needed as a detox from everyday life and constant phone use. We learned a lot about the environment and hw recycling is handled in different countries, and we became more aware by organizing a "cleaning Forest Day" in the woods of Orta Nova. My favorite activities were building a scarecrow and helping plow and plant in the community garden. The evenings were full of dance, laughter, games like hide and seek, and endless meaningful conversations with peers from across the European Union. I truly feel like a more enriched person after this project, and I sincerely hope to stay in touch with the amazing people I met. I wish all of them teh very best in life.”
Fevronia: “Biodive was my first Erasmus+ project and it was absolutely amazing! We had the chance to participate in outdoor activities, discuss many topics about the environment and get in touch with different cultures. We interacted with locals, tasted traditional Italian food and made incredible new friends. It was a journey that combined fun and education in the best possible way. Truly and unforgettable experience.”
We thank all the partners, facilitators, and participants who contributed to this impactful journey. BioDive was more than just a youth exchange—it was a collective dive into responsibility, awareness, and hope for our planet.
